• 1. Make sure that the tank sits flush on the stand. Put coins under the corners of the tank if needed. The corners are all that matters. Do not put coins out in the middle of the tank. Only put them in the corners between the tank and the stand.



• 2. Most of the gravel we sell has already been washed but always read the label on the bag. Put the gravel in the tank after the tank is flush on the stand.



• 3. Begin to put water in the tank trying to maintain an 80 degree temperature. Let your heater sit in the water for at least 15 minutes before you plug it in to allow it to adjust to the temperature of the water. This will avoid breaking the heater



• 4. If you have fish in your tank already, be sure to use double amounts of Anti-Chlorine in the water before adding it to the tank. Again, try to maintain a temperature of 80 degrees.



• 5. Water should be changed every 4 weeks in a fresh water tank. This could vary in salt water tanks. Ask us about changes in you salt tank. We are always willing to help. NEVER CHANGE ALL THE WATER IN YOUR TANK! A PARTIAL WATER CHANGE IS ALL THAT IS NECESSARY.



• 6. Do water change and filter pad change at different times.



• 7. After buying fish from our store, always float them in your tank for 15 minutes and then release water and fish into your tank. This could vary depending on whether you have an outdoor pond, or indoor fish tank. If the fish are going from the store to your outside pond, you might float them for 25 minutes. This also depends on the time of year.



• 8. Always try to feed your fish twice a day, averaging one to two flakes per fish. You don't have to count them out. Try to be close to that figure.



• 9. We recommend keeping 2 tablespoons of non-iodized salt per 5 gallons of water in a freshwater tank.



• 10. Sea salt should be added toe a salt water tank, 1/2 cup to every gallon of water. We try to keep our salinity at 1.023 for our salt water tanks.



• 11. Always feed high quality foods to your fish. We believe TETRA, Hikari, Aquatrol, New Life, and all our frozen foods are super for most any fish. Some liquid foods and supplements are useful in some fresh and salt water situations.



• 12. When you buy fish from our store, it is important that you are headed straight home to put the fish in your tanks as soon as possible. Transporting the fish from place to place puts more stress on your fish. Temperature also plays a big part. Never leave your fish in a hot car to run other errands. If you live a long way from the store, there is no need to worry. The fish will make the trip from our store to your home fine because the fish will be constantly moving in the bag and the water will be moving as well, causing oxygen to be more abundant.
